Principles of Management
This course
introduced me to the various aspects for management-level careers. The coursework involved the study of issues such as motivation,
leadership, diversity, human relations, management and organizational behaviors, cultural differences, ethics, groups and
teams, communication, decision-making, teamwork, and business professionalism. I was also introduced to volunteer programs
and opportunities.

Introduction to Sociology
Sociology provided
me with the basic concepts of social interaction and all the behaviors and environmental factors that influence how people
interact. This essential information is often taken very lightly but is especially important in the workplace.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT & ORGANIZATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Communication in the Electronic Age
In today’s
society and more importantly in the world of highly technological work and professions, it is extremely important to be aware
of the technological issues that can negatively and positively impact whether or not we get a job and how we communicate with
people either professionally or personally. What we do and say electronically is not always confidential nor is the written
message always appropriately received as intended. What we display and communicate in emails, social websites, and through
various electronic transmissions can seriously impact our futures.
DIVERSITY
Family Ethnicity & Cultural Diversity
Our world and
the global interaction that exists today is ever shifting. People have to interact among a diverse range of cultures and ethnicities.
Diversity is one of the major issues that has been more strongly emphasized in organizations today. It is important to have
a general if not more extensive understanding of various individual backgrounds so as to prevent stereotyping and generalizations
that may negatively or positively affect the cohesiveness of working relationships and interactions.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXTS
Religion in America
Whether or not
people realize it, religion is an important historical foundation for the way our country exists, including organizational
systems. Our government was founded upon particular religious basis which impact not only how organizations are administered
but the way a diverse America operates. This course broadened my perspective and provided a better understanding of religion
in America.
Sociology of Work
The designation
of projects in this course has helped me to identify various issues associated to pursuing a career after an official education.
It provided me with the tools to meet the world’s expectations and prepared me with personal insights that will promote
my positive attributes. I was able to develop my knowledge of work-related issues and cultivate my skills through various
personal experiences and through encounters of others.
World Politics
World Politics
is an ever revolving affair in our country. Especially in a governmental organization world politics affects every aspect
of how the country operates. Likewise the decisions as a result of world politics affects matters globally and very minute
to very broad aspects can make a major impact on various matters of the world. Some examples include global warming, terrorism,
and economics.
ORGANIZATIONAL TOOLS & SKILLS
Communications in Business & the Professions
Good communication
in businesses and professions is very important. All interactions within businesses requires written and oral communication
via electronics or human interaction. Some of the more important skills that I learned from this course in particular included
verbal and non-verbal behaviors and public speaking.
QUANTITATIVE METHODS
Statistics
In all walks
of my career path statistics has been a vital part of any organization. All types of reports, studies, healthcare research,
business processes, analytical information and details involve statistical data. I have an understanding of the more common
terms and calculations utilized in reviewing or providing data related to organizational processes and outcomes.
ETHICS
Public Service Ethics
As a government
employee in a public service organization, this course laid the essential foundation for understanding concepts of administrative
accountability and ethics, ethical responsibilities of public administrators, tools for personal decision-making, global perspectives,
ethical governance, corruption, fraud, whistleblowing, building ethical organizations, and the review of new and continuing
debates in ethics and public administration, case studies, and general public issues.
